Academics
In conjunction with our partner school in Cusco, Intrax has tailored a four-week program which provides up to 4 academic credits. During your time in Cusco, three hours of daily Spanish language studies (matched to your skill level) will complement and enrich your introduction to Intercultural Competence (ICC). Experiential learning brings your ICC and Spanish course work to life via field studies and exploratory travel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our ICC curriculum focuses on such topics as cultural identity, cross-cultural communications, cultural patterns within the host communities and conflict resolution. Finally, take charge and contextualize your learning through an independent study project: the culmination and expansion of your coursework and field studies in your Peruvian classroom.
From Cusco to Machu Picchu this unique study program will introduce you to modern and ancient Peru. From the bustling nightlife of a colonial city to hushed quiet nights in remote Quechua villages, you will expand on their classroom instruction through hands-on projects and immersion in the local culture. Sustainable development projects such as those undertaken by the Willka T'ika Children's Fund support educational and hot meals programs in the remote villages of Patakancha and Kkapakmachay. Through interactions and project work in such communities, our students will not only be taken back in time to experience firsthand an unfamiliar culture and way of life, but they will also learn the true value of their newly acquired language and ICC skills.
Intrax's programs are fully accredited by a US university, enabling students to easily transfer academic credit to their home university. Please see the academic credit section for more details.
