As globalization draws us closer together, it is critical that we understand not only ourselves but also other cultures and perspectives which influence our society. Japan has leapt into the position of undisputed leader in the automotive industry. The once dominant US auto makers now find themselves looking across the Pacific to learn from the Japanese. Global trade is the lifeblood of our economy and demands that the political, business and academic leaders of tomorrow be prepared to work effectively for the future of our world. Whether for business or social purposes, intercultural skills and common language are the real foundation for successful interactions between people from different cultures.
Based at Yamasa Institute, which has been specially accredited by Japan's Ministry of Education to promote and teach the Japanese language, our program offers 8 different class levels for students, a specialized ICC curriculum and hands-on experiential learning activities. Classes are taught by teams of 4 instructors who will bring the curriculum to life with site visits, interaction with local people and travel throughout Japan.
ICC studies focus on Japanese culture, history and cross-cultural communication. Topics include business culture, Japanese society, Shintoism and Buddhism, globalization and the theory of power distance within Japanese social structure.
Intrax's programs are fully accredited by a Hamline University, enabling students to easily transfer academic credit to their home university. Please see the academic credit section for more details.
