Field Studies
Palampur is rich with community-based organizations working together to raise the overall prosperity of the region. Most organizations focus on microfinance and capacity building for the local populations. Your field work for this program will be in conjunction with the Chinmaya Rural Primary Health Care and Training Centre, under the auspices of Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development. This leading organization in the rural Himachal Pradesh region began as a small primary health care program and through the years has become a comprehensive integrated rural development program. The organization coordinates capacity development workshops, small loans and health care programs for the community. Their end goal is to provide the people of Himachal Pradesh with resources to transform their lives and surroundings.
A crucial component of your field studies is an independent study project (ISP) supervised by the ICC faculty that incorporates reflection papers, one-on-one contact with locals, more language acquisition and group discussions on how your ICC training has honed your global skills.
Field-based studies amongst the local people in Himachal Pradesh and more specifically within the Chinmaya Rural Health Care and Training Centre allows you to further explore, in a guided setting, interests specific to your major or background. The program culminates with a final project and presentation for your peers and the community. Incorporating classroom and field-based learning into one program is what sets Intrax apart from other study abroad programs.
