India is an emerging Asian giant. Its education system is top-notch and it boasts some of the best technological and agricultural universities in Asia.
We have drawn upon the rich human resources of the Palampur region to create a unique and highly experiential curriculum which combines Intercultural Competence (ICC) with microfinance and economics courses. Your ICC courses are taught by an intercultural communications specialist at the Agricultural University of Palampur. Topics include cross-cultural communications, globalization, Indian culture and history. Microfinance courses are taught by university faculty who have excellent experience in the field. The curriculum will be reinforced with site visits, volunteer work in a local non-profit, and interaction with local students and the host community.
Of course there is much more to understanding Indian culture. Religion plays a key role in the daily lives of most Indians, be they Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist or any of the myriad other faiths practiced there. Fortunately, Amritsar, the spiritual home of the Sikh religion, and Dharamsala, the home of the exiled Tibetan population and His Holiness the Dalai Llama are located within a few hours of Palampur. Visits and lectures in Amritsar and Dharamsala provide insight into the fascinating spiritual history of India. Upon return to Delhi we will visit the Taj Mahal at Agra, commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 as a mausoleum for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Intrax's programs are fully accredited by a US university, enabling students to easily transfer academic credit to their home university. Please see the academic credit section for more details.
