Program Overview
Intrax's Culture+ program is a unique combination of study abroad with local exploration and immersion. Earn up to 6 academic credits on our four-week Costa Rica program learning Spanish language, Intercultural Competence and Sustainable Development. Learning comes alive through our innovative combination of formal classroom instruction, meaningful field-based studies and exploratory travel to diverse communities within the country.
Known for its incredible biodiversity, Costa Rica is one of the most popular ecotourism destinations in the world. Study in stunning natural laboratories like rainforests, cloud forests, mountains and beaches, and enjoy endless opportunities for cultural immersion. Reflecting indigenous, African and Spanish influences, Costa Rican culture is equally rich. Ticos as Costa Ricans call themselves, are friendly people who value a relaxed, peaceful lifestyle. The expression "Pura Vida" is often used to express the quality of ease and happiness that permeates life here, making it a great place to study and travel!
Through coursework, field studies, an independent study project and excursions, you'll improve your Spanish, be challenged to learn, acquire and exercise fundamental global skills and contribute to important sustainable development projects while working side-by-side with locals.
