Our Academics

Intrax is redefining study abroad with our innovative academic programs. Our experiential teaching methodology combines formal classroom learning with field studies, linking students' real-time cultural interactions with cutting edge academic theory on Intercultural Competence (ICC).

Students have the opportunity to earn up to 6 academic credits on Intrax's Culture+ programs and can receive an official transcript from either Hamline University, our US University of Record or our accredited international partner institutions. Learn more information about our credit transfer process.

Intrax's unique ICC curriculum design is interwoven with language study, community-based learning, exploratory travel, independent research and reflection. Each program has additional academic "special topics" such as language, sustainable development, business or microfinance. Unique to each host culture, these special topics serve as alternate lenses for students' ICC studies. See each Culture+ program for detailed course descriptions.

All Culture+ programs are taught by highly qualified Intercultural Competence faculty who specialize in each program's specific academic emphasis. All Intrax instructors have a Masters or a PhD and extensive experience working with US undergraduate students. If you would like more information regarding our academic program, including faculty CV's, course syllabi and descriptions, please contact us at info@studytheworld.com or 800.579.1709.

What is Intercultural Competence (ICC)? - Intercultural Competence describes a measurable skill to navigate and operate effectively within a variety of international settings. Specific skills include the ability to evaluate, identify and adapt to different cultural traits, awareness of our own cultural perspectives and personal biases and appropriate communication in different cross-cultural situations.

ICC theory and concepts are designed to build students' personal, academic and professional skills for those seeking to become more effective intercultural leaders in our increasingly interconnected society. ICC applications and implications are essential for students who are moving towards shaping their own cultural-identity and world views.
