What is Intercultural Competence?

Intercultural Competence (ICC) is Intrax's core curriculum. It is also an innovative concept and ever-growing skill necessary for navigating in today's global society. On our Culture+ programs, the ICC academic program is a means for students to acquire communication, teambuilding, leadership, awareness, adaptability and conflict resolution skills necessary for working in different cultural contexts. By definition, ICC is "the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in intercultural situations based on one's intercultural knowledge, skills and attitudes."

-Darla K. Deardorff's definition extracted from: Deardorff, D.K. & Hunter, W (2006). Education global-ready graduates. International Educator, 15 (3), 72-83.
